About Us

Our Mission at the Scribbles Institute is to transform people’s lives through the practice of drawing.

Our Goals

•Help students to realize their innate drawing abilities
•Develop each student’s drawing skills based on his or her ability level and particular interests
•Help students to transfer their drawing skills to work, school, personal projects
•Guide students in exploring careers that utilize traditional and digital drawing skills
•Keep students drawing on a regular basis

All my life, I've been fascinated with the ideas and images that spring from the point of my pencil. My lifestyle has always been based on a foundation of drawing skills—live to draw, draw to live! As your coach, I'm here to help you explore, experiment, and express yourself through drawing.

Your Coach

Rob Court is ready to help you transform your life through the practice of drawing. Here is some info about him:

Past Life: For over thirty-five years Rob Court worked as a freelance illustrator and graphic designer for large corporations, small businesses, and non-profit organizations. His client list includes publishers such as The Walt Disney Company, Scholastic, and the Los Angeles Times. As a freelancer, Rob used his drawing skills to convey ideas, solve problems, and express the objectives of his clients.

Present Life: Rob remains active in children’s book illustration but devotes much of his time to helping students find their own voice in drawing and visual art. He enjoys sharing his experiences in drawing with each student whether he’s teaching in his studio, in schools, in the field, or on the streets. Rob started the Scribbles Institute to help people apply drawing skills to everyday life.

After being a long-time resident of Santa Cruz, Rob now lives in Pacific Grove, California where he enjoys mountain biking, surf/skateboard culture, reading, sketching, and spending time with his family.
