New Summer Workshops! Level 1 Basics; Sketchbook Basics; Adult Experimental Drawing

Ready for an exciting and creative experience to finish out your summer? Check out The Scribbles Institute August workshops:

Level 1 Basics Workshop, Saturday, August 11, 10am-3pm (Adults)
In this fast-paced workshop you’ll learn basic skills and techniques in observational drawing. We’ll start with an introduction to gripping the pencil, blocking in shapes, measuring proportions, and contours.  It’s a great way to prepare for our evening Expression Sessions for adults. Open to beginners – especially those who think they can’t draw! Register now!

 

Sketchbook Basics Workshop, Saturday August 18, 10:00am-3:00pm (Adults)

This 1-day adventure begins with an introduction to sketching techniques and strategies for drawing from life and imagination. We’ll explore composition and how to capture subject matter quickly. We’ll spend time in the studio for introductory lessons; then walk to a nearby park to learn about sketching trees and various architecture. Open to adult beginners. Recommended prerequisite: Level 1 classes or workshop. Cost: $80. Supplies needed: Sketchbook and 4B drawing pencil. We’ll supply various pencils to experiment with. Register now! Experimental Drawing Workshop Saturday, August 25, 10am-3pm (Adults)
Want to explore drawing from your imagination? We’ll jump into using lines, shapes, and patterns in expressive drawings. Lessons focus on the process of drawing as a way to make the imagination visible.

We’ll cover the basics in composition, various drawing media, and experiment with some large-format spontaneous work. This fun-filled day is a great way to draw out your inner artist. Workshop notes: All workshops include a break for lunch.We always have snacks and refreshments on hand, and a refrigerator if you’d like to bring your lunch. There are also restaurants nearby. If you have questions please contact us at 831.421.0774.

Adult Weekly Expression Session Classes

Our Expression Session package allows you flexibility in scheduling (you choose the day) and opportunities to share drawing with other students while keeping a disciplined focus on lessons. Small class size ensures that each sketcher gets personal attention with their particular lesson. Note: All new adult students must start with Level 1 classes. Open to adult beginners–especially those who think they can’t draw!  Click here for more information about these classes.

Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Level 1: 6-8pm; Levels 2 and 3: 6:30-8:30pm. Cost: $150 gets you 4, 2-hour sessions. All materials are included.

SI Youth Sketchers Classes

For young artists (13 to 17 years) who want to learn new drawing skills. Small class size ensures that each sketcher gets personal attention with their particular lesson. We offer Level 1, 2, and 3 sessions. If you have a group of 4-6 young artists we can organize a class for them. Classes are usually held on weekends or weekday afternoons.
