Concept Sketching: Middle and High Schoolers Gather in New SI Groups

We’re excited about our new Concept Sketching workshops now offered at the Scribbles Institute studio/classroom. Shown above are Level 2 middle schoolers Hannah and Megan, both interested in exploring careers in concept art, learning about blocking-in basic shapes for form and studying textures. ‘Killer Croc’ cooperated as the model for this productive session (scroll down for more middle school sketches and pics). Watch for our future calendar updates for summer Concept Sketching workshops. Or if you have a group of 3 or more sketchers, find out how to start your own group.

The photo below shows our first session of Santa Cruz and Monterey community schools, including Natural Bridges, Star, and Watsonville. This extremely creative crew is working on story ideas for a Manga comic and are beginning to delegate tasks such as character design, layout, and background sketching. We’ll keep you posted on their progress.

Shown below are more Level 2 middle school pics and fantastic student sketches:

Hi Rob, I keep missing the BL figure sessions…too bad I really love it and it’s a great group. Looks like you’ve got a good thing going with your Scribbles Inst.. Congrats. Lotta work but probably a lot of reward watching young folks come alive. Maybe next week I’ll drop in at BL and mutilate some poor model. RonG
